FAQ's

1. For my first time, I just want to come and try making one or two dinners instead of three will you accomodate me?

Call us. We realize this concept is new and people want to try it before committing to three or more meals. We can fit you into a session for fewer than three meals.

2. I am on a special diet and need to count calories, points, fats, carbs, etc. Do you have them listed anywhere?

This question has been asked a lot and we do want to accomodate. To list any of these facts would be misleading to you. Since each meal is custom made it could be as simple as leaving off a sauce that would make a dish perfect for your diet. Any side dishes can be substituted with a side dish that's on our menu. Just call us and we can work together to make the meals work within your dietary needs.

3. The session times don't work with my schedule.

Give us a call so we can mutually find a beneficial time.

4. What if I forgot to order ahead, but want to pick up dinner for tonight?

We have daily specials available for immediate pick up without pre-ordering; these are fresh and ready for dinner when you pick them up. We also have a wide range of meals and soups in our freezer that are ready to go.

5. I'd prefer to pay with check or cash. Can you accomodate this?

Absolutely. Just call in your order and we'll mark it 'cash n carry'. You can also email us your order, just make sure your name, phone number, date and time for assembly or pick up is listed with the order. Either way you can pay on the day of your session or pick up.

6. If I just want to stop by and pick up a daily special or a menu, what are your regular hours?

On a regular basis, we are at the shop from 10am to 6pm Monday - Friday and from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. If you need a later time for pick-up just call and let us know. With an evening session scheduled, we are at the shop until the session is finished.

7. What’s the maximum number of people I might expect to encounter during any session?

We have 12 prep stations so you may encounter up to 11 other customers.

8. The premium frozen dinners I get from my supermarket aren’t all that bad. What makes The Busy Chef’s dinners better?

The Busy Chef uses only fresh, high-quality ingredients with no preservatives added.  In fact, we shop for ingredients after you place your order.

9. I thought the Vermont Fresh Network supplied only restaurants. How is The Busy Chef connected to it?

Any business that supplies food can be a member of Vermont Fresh Network.  We're proud to support local Vermont farms through our membership.

10. How much space are the meals going to take up in my freezer?

Space requirements vary from meal to meal.  Take a look at the specific meals you plan to prepare for detailed space requirements.

11. Different people eat different amounts - how do I know whether to order the small portion to feed 2-3 or the large portion to feed 4-6?

This is a common question.  Click here to learn which portion best meets your needs.

12. What if I have a food allergy or don’t like one of the ingredients in a meal I’d otherwise like to make?

Since you put your own meals together you are free to omit ingredients.  Of course, whenever you leave an ingredient out, your meal will taste slightly different.

13. Can you assemble the meals for me?

If you don't have the time or the desire to put your meals together, our staff will do it for you for a fee of $2 per meal.  And, when we assemble your meals, there is no minimum.  You can order any number up to 12.
